Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸🥳
This Fourth of July is an especially meaningful one for me—it's my first Independence Day as an American citizen.
I moved here from New Zealand seven years ago, but I'm British, so yes... a born-and-raised redcoat! 😂
In those seven years, I've married my incredible wife, Bethanie, made amazing friends who have become family, and started Decks to Halls to serve this community while building a life I'm truly proud of.
America really is a land of opportunity, and I'm incredibly grateful that God led me to this great nation.

Decks to Halls is feeling thankful.

The first photo is the very first picture taken in the start of my staining career. It was taken before Decks to Halls was even a business. I had just been given an opportunity by my friend who owns J's Xterior LLC to stain a deck for his client.
Looking back, that opportunity changed the course of my life, and I'll always be grateful for where it all began.

The second photo is one of my latest picture of my staining career.
The difference between these two pictures is more than the finished product. It's years of hard work, lessons learned and the trust of homeowners who gave us the chance to earn their business.

Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of hiring and mentoring a few great people—sharing not only the craft of deck staining but also life skills and the importance of customer relationships. Some of those customers have even become close friends, which is something I value just as much as the work itself. We’ve also consistently reinvested back into the business to improve our tools, products, and overall quality.

One of the things I'm most proud of is earning nearly 150 five-star Google reviews. Every review is more than a rating—it's a family that trusted us with their home and felt we delivered on that trust.

Question for you: would you go black on your fence, or stick with natural wood tones?

First time staining a fence black—and it completely changes the property.
We just finished this project on a full perimeter wood fence, and the difference is hard to capture in photos alone. The natural wood had character, but the black stain brought a clean, modern look that made the landscaping stand out instead of the fence.
