These are the three words that inspired the start of Decks to Halls.
Owner Michael Hall moved to America in 2019 after meeting his Michigan native wife, while both were separately solo-traveling New Zealand in 2017. After marriage, Michael soon started work as an interior painter for a local company in Cedar Rapids. Michael found a love for the trade he was learning and knew he could grow into it.
While at a men’s Bible study one evening Michael heard the words to “Perfect your craft”. That’s where he had the idea to start his own company and truly hone in on his new found skill. During this time, and not long after the Derecho hit the town of Cedar Rapids, he was being approached by many inquiring about his ability to also provide deck staining.
Seeing there was a need and finding that restoring decks was visually and personally rewarding, in 2021 Decks to Halls was born. Michael continued to educate himself in the trade by taking a trip to TN to attend Staining University where he learned from the top professionals in the trade so he could provide the best service and quality work he could. He continues to attend yearly and maintains many close relationships within this professional network ensuring he is exposed to all the newest techniques, professional advice, and best practices offered in the industry.
In 2022 Decks to Halls was humbled to exceed its goal of obtaining 25 5-star reviews on Google, and is becoming a known name for its quality work within the Cedar Rapids community and surrounding cities.
